More Home Improvements

We recently purchased an electric fireplace, and while I think it is so very tacky, I've enjoyed the extra warmth it has provided to the main floor of the house. I've also enjoyed the reduction to our monthly energy bill as the tacky fireplace is much more efficient than our outdated baseboard heaters. This concludes the home improvement posts for today.

I don't think it looks that tacky! I think the warmth is totally worth it.

I love the color of your wall! I don't think it looks take either. The one my in-laws have is very tacky.

Thanks for the compliments. I actually like how it looks, but I do think electric fireplaces are tacky in theory.

And RL, you crack me up! I hate the color of our living room/dining room. The color always shows up so nice in pictures, but IRL, it is a muddy terracotta. I can't wait to paint over it!

Well, I like it in the picture then! To be honest, I deliberately painted my dinning room a color called "cantaloupe," to go with our African theme.

I get you with the tacky in theory. My in-laws' one is certainly looking as well. I grew up with a real fire place and was a bit sad when it got replaced with a gas fireplace. It's not the same.
